There’s no need to be anxious or nervous about having any kind of treatment at Evolve Dentistry. We have lots of experience in treating nervous patients and plenty of options to help you feel calm and relaxed whenever you visit us,
we've even written a free guide to overcoming your dental fear, this can
be downloaded below.
Choose a pain-free injection which makes you feel like you’re asleep, without actually being asleep. This means that you are unaware of what is going on around you, but can still follow the dentist's instructions. Most people have no recollection of the treatment afterwards, making is perfect for anxious or nervous patients.
Alternatively, you could choose what is more commonly know as gas. Nitrous oxide can produce a safe, fast-acting and relaxed euphoria that starts before your treatment and lasts while you are treated.
What is Dental Sedation?
Sedation Dentistry allows you to receive dental treatment in a
relaxed, comfortable fashion.
Who is it for?
Sedation is used for many reasons including involved treatments such
as implant placements and for highly anxious patients for whom the
thought of dentistry is distressing.
How is it done?
At Evolve Dental Sedation Clinic we provide two types of sedation;
“magic air” or IV sedation.
“Magic air” or Conscious Sedation
“Magic air” (known more commonly as gas and air) produces a safe,
fast-acting, pleasant, floating sensation that starts before your
treatment and lasts while you are being treated. This is particularly
recommended for anxious children.
Dental IV sedation
A pain-free injection which makes you feel like you’re asleep, without
actually being asleep. You are unaware of what is going on around you,
but can still follow the dentist’s instructions. Most people have no
recollection of the treatment afterwards, making is perfect for anxious
or nervous patients.
What do I need to be aware of with sedation dentistry?
Enjoy a tea or coffee with us after your treatment and then be ready to
get on with the rest of your day.
On the day of treatment you will need to bring an escort with you to
your appointment who will stay with you after your appointment. Most
people feel very tired after treatment so it is advisable to go home and
rest. Because of the drowsiness, you must not drive or operate any
machinery until the day after your intravenous sedation.
Is IV Sedation safe?
Yes, Dr Somerville Roberts has many years of experience in administering
sedation. During the treatment you and your vital signs are constantly
monitored under her supervision.
