A whole new breed of dentistry for the busy people of Bristol. How great would it be to be able to have your dentistry in a single appointment? Many people find that having dental crowns and permanent white fillings is not the most productive way of spending their time – often having to return for repeat appointments means you get less done of things you need or wish to do!
With CEREC we use modern technology to allow your new tooth to literally be ‘born in front of your eyes’ and save time at the dentist. CEREC Same Day Crowns use 3 steps to help save you time:
CEREC is great if:
What is a Cerec crown or inlay?
Cerec is the brand name of a system that can design and make a crown in a single visit. It uses 3D imaging technology to take a picture of your tooth once it has been prepared, and then will design the ideal shaped crown or inlay. This information is used by the milling unit to create your crown.
What is the crown or inlay made from?
A Cerec crown or inlay is 100% metal-free but still incredibly strong. It is made from ceramic and bonded to your tooth. The material that the crown or inlay is made from bends and flexes in a similar way to natural tooth material, so reduces the chance of tooth fracture in the future.
Why would I choose a Cerec crown or inlay?
These crowns are currently ideal for all areas of the mouth other than the very front, where we believe the artistry of a dental technician would provide a better aesthetic result. Because a Cerec crown is made at Evolve Dentistry while you wait, you save time as you only need one appointment, meaning that you only need one injection.
What happens during my appointment?
During your appointment you would still be made numb if you require local anaesthetic. Your tooth or teeth are then prepared for the crown or inlay.
Once our dentist is happy that the tooth is the correct shape, a camera is used to scan your mouth, the opposite teeth and the teeth biting together. From this information, the crown or inlay can be designed and customised for your mouth. Once the crown or inlay has been designed it is milled in the milling unit.
During this process you can relax in our reception area with a cold drink and read a magazine or you can watch your crown or inlay being created. It is then bonded into your mouth. As the Cerec system is incredibly accurate, your crown or inlay will have an excellent fit.
How long will my Cerec crown or inlay last?
Studies have shown that a Cerec restoration can last as long as conventional crowns or even longer. The average lifespan is 10 -15 years if properly cared for.
In order to get the best out of your crown or inlay, we recommend that you visit us regularly as advised by your dentist. It is still possible to get decay under any crown, inlay or filling, regular appointments will reduce the risk of this.
Will it cost me any more to have a Cerec crown?
The cost to you is the same or lower as a traditional crown or inlay as we believe this is one of the best way to restore your teeth and so would like you to benefit from the technology available.
Can I come to you if I already have a dentist?
Yes, we are happy to carry out your treatment and you would continue to see your own dentist for all your routine treatment.

When is root canal treatment needed?
It’s a question many patients ask — and in this video, Richard explains it clearly and simply.
Root canal treatment is usually needed when the nerve inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This can happen because of deep decay, a crack in the tooth, repeated dental work, or sometimes after an injury.
You might experience symptoms like persistent toothache, sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers, pain when biting, or swelling around the gum. However, sometimes there are very few symptoms at all — which is why regular check-ups at the practice are so important.
The good news is that root canal treatment is designed to relieve pain, not cause it. It removes the infection, saves the natural tooth, and helps you avoid extraction.
Watch Richard’s video to understand the signs to look out for — and if you’re worried about a tooth, get in touch with our reception team for advice.

Smile Hack 🍎🥕
Love a sweet treat? Jane shares a simple swap that your teeth will thank you for.
Sticky sweets cling to your teeth and sit in the tiny grooves for longer, feeding the bacteria that cause decay. The longer they stick around, the more damage they can do.
Instead, try swapping them for crunchy veg or a handful of nuts. Foods like carrots, cucumber and peppers have a natural crunch that helps stimulate saliva, which protects your teeth. Nuts are also a lower-sugar option and far less likely to cling to enamel.
Small changes really do make a big difference over time.
