What is meant by cosmetic dentistry?
The term ‘cosmetic dentistry’ is a generic term that refers to a wide range of treatment that focuses on improving the appearance of your smile. This includes treatments such as tooth whitening, dental bonding, veneers and braces. We offer all of these at our Portishead Dentist practice.
How much does it cost to have a dental makeover?
It’s not possible to give a cost for a dental makeover as there are so many variables. Here at Evolve in Portishead, tooth whitening costs just £360.
What is the best cosmetic treatment for teeth?
At Evolve, we believe that the best treatment is the most minimally invasive treatment that is right for you. This is something that will depend on your current oral health and also what you are trying to change about your smile. However, the following are common treatments that we offer here in our Portishead dental practice:
Why do people get cosmetic dentistry?
We speak to a lot of people who have low confidence due to their smile. Having stained, chipped, wonky or gappy teeth can have a big impact on how often people smile. Take a look at photographs of yourself, are you showing your teeth and smiling in them? If not, then you may benefit from some cosmetic dental treatment to give you the confidence to smile.
When should you consider cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dental treatments are 100% elective, which means they are not necessary for the overall health of your teeth. This means that it’s completely down to the individual as to when they feel they would like to begin dental treatment to improve their smile. We see a lot of people that are looking to have a smile makeover before their wedding or a big birthday, but we also regularly see people that have decided now is the time to improve their confidence. Having an increase in confidence from a beautiful smile can be life changing.

Do I have to replace a missing tooth?
If you`ve lost a tooth, do you have to replace it?
Not necessarily.
And that`s an important starting point.
What happens next depends on which tooth is missing, your mouth, how you bite, how you feel about the gap and what`s happening with the teeth around it.
Yasmin explains some of the things we consider when a tooth is missing.
The important thing isn`t assuming you need a particular treatment.
It`s understanding your options - including whether doing nothing could be a reasonable option for you.

Sensitive teeth are common, but there isn`t just one possible cause.
Richard explains some of the reasons teeth can become sensitive and why it`s worth mentioning if you`ve noticed something new.
Sometimes a little sensitivity is exactly that.
But a change that persists is something we`d rather know about than have you quietly avoiding ice cream for the foreseeable future.
Having a tooth removed probably isn`t an appointment anyone particularly looks forward to.
