Dental veneers are an excellent way of treating the following problems:
In modern times dental veneers have become less popular due to the concept of align, bleach and bond. This involves orthodontics to move teeth, whitening to whiten teeth and finally instant veneers, or dental bonding to restore small chips etc.
In some cases the teeth are just too dark or too badly discoloured to be treated with whitening and bonding, so in this instance conventional ceramic dental veneers would be considered.
The veneer is made from a high-grade dental ceramic material, which is laminated to the front of your tooth. Think about a laminated windscreen on a car, these rarely break due to the strength of the lamination. Dental ceramics, because they are laminated to your tooth, are equally as strong once they are bonded to your tooth.
Many dental veneers are made in a dental laboratory by a highly skilled dental technician. The disadvantage of this is that you may have to wait up to 3 weeks from having your initial appointment to having your veneers fitted, whilst the dental technician crafts your new dental veneers.
However in our practice, we have CEREC. This is our digital dental technician. When we make dental veneers using this modern technology we scan your tooth with a digital scanner, then design your new tooth on a computer screen. Once we are happy with the new design, we then send this digital information to a high grade milling machine which we have in our practice.
The advantage of this technique is that you do not need to wait for so long between appointments and you can have your new veneers on the same day.
Nowadays dental veneers are a highly aesthetic and reliable treatment option, in some instances they can be liable to chip and crack. Although normally if this happens it is due to misdiagnosis in the first place. The dentists in our Bristol practice when they make veneers, will ensure that dental veneers are the best treatment option for you, and if they are not they will advise as to what is the most likely option that will be best suited to you.
There are many celebrities in the headlines that have had dental fears, the most famous of these is Tulisa, from X factor or fame. She had dental veneers to correct her gummy smile, and give her lighter, brighter, whiter teeth.
Our dental practice in Portishead on the outskirts of Bristol, is ideally placed to provide the highest quality dental veneers in the local area and we welcome patients from the entire Bristol area.
