Fillers at Evolve Dentistry, Portishead
What do fillers do to your face?
Dermal injections can re-plump the facial skin, restoring lost volume and improving visible skin texture, resulting in a fresher more youthful appearance by softening lines, wrinkles and creases in virtually any part of the face.
Where are fillers used in your face?
Nose-to-mouth and marionette lines (which extend from either side of the mouth) as well as smokers’ creases around the lips can all be decreased and smoothed. Injections can also be used to enhance the shape and definition of the lips, cheeks or chin.
What are fillers made of?
Here at Evolve, we have chosen to use hyaluronic acid-based products, such as Restylane and Teoxane, as they are not only the safest to use but have the additional benefit of typically being able to achieve the desired result in a single treatment.
What are the benefits of fillers?
The benefit of hyaluronic-acid based injections is that they contain natural, biodegradable ingredients, meaning they are not permanent and will eventually be naturally broken down rather then remaining in the body. Moreover, the incredible hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid offer further restorative benefits which can improve both the appearance and texture of the skin over time through follow-up treatments.
Does treatment hurt?
For most areas to be treated, we will use a numbing cream – applying it 30 to 40 minutes prior to your appointment – so you will be comfortable throughout your treatment. However, when treating the especially sensitive lip area, to ensure the procedure is pain-free, we use dental block, just like you would have for a filling. This is the added bonus of having a qualified dentist to carry out your lip enhancement.
How long does it take for face fillers to work?
You will see visible results immediately although these will typically be only 80% of the final result, which will usually be seen in the 2 weeks following your treatment. This slight delay is down to hyaluronic acid’s impressive ability to attract 1000 times its own volume in moisture, meaning it continues to help to further plump, smooth and hydrate the skin over time.
How long do results last?
Results will typically last between 6 and 12 months, although much depends on the treated area and on the particular product used.

For some patients, this can reduce tension, relieve discomfort and improve day-to-day symptoms.
If you’ve been experiencing jaw pain or tension, it may be worth having a conversation about your options.

🪥 Smile hack: timing your tooth brushing
Did you know that brushing your teeth straight after eating isn’t always the best idea?
In this quick video, Maggie explains why it’s better to wait a little while before brushing. After eating, especially acidic foods and drinks, the enamel on your teeth can be temporarily softened. Brushing too soon can actually cause more wear.
Waiting around 30 minutes gives your saliva time to neutralise the acids and protect your teeth.
Watch Maggie’s smile hack to learn the simple change that can help keep your teeth healthier.

What exactly is a dental crown?
In this video, Carol explains how crowns help restore and protect teeth that have been weakened by cracks, root canal treatment or large fillings.
A crown acts like a protective cap, binding the tooth together and giving it the strength it needs for everyday biting and chewing.
Watch the video to learn when a crown may be recommended and how it helps protect your smile.

Did you know that chewing sugar free gum after eating can actually help protect your teeth? 🍬➡️🦷
In this video, Carol explains why dentists often recommend sugar free gum after meals. Chewing gum stimulates saliva, which helps wash away food particles and neutralise acids that can lead to tooth decay.
It’s not a replacement for brushing, but it can be a helpful extra habit when you’re out and about and can’t brush your teeth straight away.
