Don’t discount dentures…
If you have a missing tooth or teeth, or a dentist told you a tooth is unrestorable, you may be unsure about what to do next.
You may have heard that dental implants are the best, most modern solution. But they are not the only option, because removable dentures have not gone away. Many exceptional dentists are continuing to deliver dentures. A patient might not be suitable for a dental implant, or want one. Dentures cost less than implants, but this does not compromise the quality of the product. The aesthetic outcome and long-term result can also be excellent.
If you are susceptible to gum disease or bone loss around the teeth, your dentist may recommend a denture. A brilliant dentist will make a thorough assessment, so your treatment is ethical. They will give you all the information you need to make your decision. A dental implant does not always last forever, and it isn’t fit-and-forget. You may not feel able to commit to the ongoing job of aftercare to keep it stable. Healing is usually required before the final restoration is fitted and you may not want to wait.
The “new” dentures
Materials and technologies have evolved and “new” dentures look great. They also feel and function like natural teeth. They are a world away from anything you might associate with your grandparents.
