Exploring the Denture Experience with Evolve Dentistry in Portishead

At Evolve Dentistry in Portishead, we recognise the pivotal role a smile plays in boosting confidence and overall well-being. For those who have lost their natural teeth, dentures are a transformative solution. However, a common query arises: What is the waiting period for dentures if you’ve lost all your teeth? This blog post aims to illuminate the denture journey and delve into the timeline associated with getting your new dentures.

The Initial Consultation:

Commencing your denture journey at Evolve Dentistry involves the crucial first step of the initial consultation. During this session, our experienced dentist, Mike Gregory, meticulously evaluates your oral health, delves into your medical history, and identifies the most suitable type of dentures tailored to your unique needs.

This initial assessment is pivotal in formulating a personalised treatment plan, ensuring your dentures are not only comfortable but also resemble your natural smile. Typically lasting 40 minutes, this consultation lays the foundation for your denture journey.

Impressions:

After establishing your treatment plan, the subsequent phase revolves around preparing for the denture fitting, which includes taking impressions of your gums and jaw. These impressions serve as the blueprint for crafting dentures. Mike uses these impressions to create models and a specialised tray for more detailed impressions at your next appointment.

This follow-up appointment typically occurs within a week or two of your consultation with Mike, who ensure’s the process is both comfortable and efficient.

Secondary Impressions:

Ahead of your next appointment, Mike will create mock-ups of your new dentures to guarantee your satisfaction with the fit before handcrafting your final set. During this session, secondary impressions are taken to ensure your new dentures will fit you flawlessly.

Try in appointment:

Once your secondary impressions have been taken, your dentures are then created in wax so that they can be checked in your mouth and that they look natural for your face and smile. Once both you and Mike are happy with the trial stage, only then do you move to the final fit.

Final Denture Fitting:

At your final appointment, Mike will fit your new dentures, so you can leave with a radiant new smile. A follow-up appointment is scheduled to ensure the dentures fit perfectly and that you are entirely happy with them.

Embarking on your denture journey is a big step toward reclaiming your smile and confidence. At Evolve Dentistry in Portishead, we strive to make this process seamless and comfortable. While the timeline may vary based on individual factors, our dedicated team is committed to guiding you through each stage, ensuring you get the radiant smile you deserve. If you have questions or are contemplating dentures, we invite you to book a consultation with us for more information.
