If you’ve decided to have your amalgam fillings removed, you may be wondering how to prepare for your appointment. While your dentist will handle the procedure itself, there are steps you can take to ensure a smooth experience.

Before your amalgam removal appointment in Bristol:

Richard changed all of that.He is personable, courteous and kind, and never too busy to take the time to talk things through in as much detail as I want. The whole experience of going to Evolve is fantastic, from as soon as you step in the door. I went into surgery after an accident and the lady on reception was so kind and booked me to be seen very quickly by Dr Ford, my mouth was very swollen and painful but he was so gentle looking to see what had happened, treatment was explained and then time was made that day for it to get me out of pain.I was very nervous of my tooth being touched, but Dr Ford took such care and patience and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure and didn’t feel pain, he even then fashioned my tooth so it looked like nothing had happened!

I was an incredibly nervous patient & I can whole heartedly recommend Evolve for anyone who feels nervous. Once you’ve been to Evolve you understand why they have so many awards. I’ve been blown away by their understanding, patience and kindness. Richard, Maisie, Julie & Nicky are all amazing. But no matter who you deal with either on the phone, on reception or walking round the practice literally everyone smiles and is welcoming. My nervousness has reduced and having contacted them initially for some emergency treatment, I have a joined the practice and just feel relieved that I chose them.

I rather nervously came to Evolve several years ago having not visited a dentist in a very long time, with teeth and gums in a sorry state. Following an initial few sessions where I was able to request numbing, I eased into a consistent routine of check-ups and hygienist visits, resulting in teeth of which I am no longer ashamed. Visiting the dentist holds no trepidation for me now; the levels of care and treatment at Evolve are excellent, and the pleasant surroundings make the experience that little bit more comfortable.

I had dentures made at Evolve Dentistry in Portishead by Mike and his assistant Jess, and I honestly cannot thank them enough.Mike is truly special. He’s refreshingly honest and straight-talking – no sugar-coating, no false promises – just clear and direct about what he was going to do and what to expect. I found that honesty so reassuring. And then there’s Jess, who is warm, calming and so supportive throughout. Together they make the perfect team: Mike’s skill and precision, with Jess’s kindness and care. They really are phenomenal at what they do.The change has been incredible. I underestimated just how good the result would be. My new smile has given me a whole new sense of confidence. I’m 58, and I was so worried dentures would look obvious or make me look older – but it’s been the complete opposite. People kept saying I looked brighter, like I’d been on holiday, without realising it was my smile. They couldn’t tell at all that I had dentures, which is amazing.I deliberately waited before writing this review, to be sure it wasn’t just the excitement of something new. But even after time has passed, I’m still blown away. Yes, some foods feel a bit different (crisps, for example), but you adapt quickly, and the positives far outweigh any small changes.The whole process was painless – I never once needed a painkiller. My gums have healed beautifully, and in time I may need a small adjustment, but that’s all part of the journey.Most importantly, this has changed how I feel about myself. With my first grandchild on the way, I can’t wait to smile proudly in photos instead of hiding from the camera.From the receptionist who greeted me, to Julie my wellbeing person, and especially Mike and Jess – thank you for the phenomenal job you’ve done. My mum's experience at Evolve Dentistry has been truly first-class. She did not think that she would be able to tolerate a full upper denture but Mike Gregory worked a miracle and she is extremely happy with her new denture. The whole team at Evolve is extremely friendly, professional and welcoming and if you are someone who is nervous about going to the dentist or has been told elsewhere that a certain treatment probably won't work for you, try Evolve Dentistry before you give up.

During lockdown my gums became very badly inflamed as I couldn't attend my 3 monthly hygienist appts...On movingbyo Portishead I signed on with Evolve who referred me to a private specialist Orthodontist.This meant a sustained period of specialist treatments to get the inflammation under control ..I am now on a maintenance programme & Evolve ultimately we're able to fit a porcelain crown to save a tooth that was in a poor condition. In effect they've given me my smile back.[ It's great that they have interest free loans too]The Team are pleasant, explain things clearly . I recently had my 6 months check up & so relieved to know I've come out the other side.Thank you !!

I hadn’t been to the dentist in 4 years, and had a fear of them, and then fell in the rain and knocked my bridge and 2 teeth out. I phoned in a panic, Nickie was lovely and calming on the phone. I saw dentist Carol that morning, who explained my options. I subsequently had 2 roots removed (absolutely no pain) and now have a new temporary bridge. Everyone, receptionist, dentist, hygienist , dental nurse was calm and gentle and worked at my pace. I am so lucky to have a fabulous team care for me. Thank you

It’s Debbie Heard from my husband’s Google account.I’ve recently had treatment with Evolve Dentistry. As a child I had poor teeth & gums so it’s always been a ‘thing’! I’ve been ashamed, embarrassed, always had tooth envy. I was told by a dentist at the age of 12 that I would be toothless before I was 30, I proved him wrong & had crowns & bridges fitted & managed to have teeth that looked aesthetically pleasing for a further 30 years. It all came to a head approximately 3 years ago when I had to wear a partial denture. To me it was the end of the world but I amazed myself & adjusted. In October 2024 I had the remainder of my upper teeth removed & had teeth added to my partial as a temporary measure. My current dentist who also is amazing referred me to Mike Gregory at Evolve as she assured me he would do a much better job than she could. My experience at Evolve was second to none from the get go. I met with Julie initially, one of the treatment co-ordinators. She explained how things would pan out over the next couple of months. Nicky on reception was so kind, she put me at ease immediately. Mike & his nurse Jess did exactly the same, I felt so comfortable with them all. My first appointments to the last which was yesterday 12th February were a pleasure, every single person who works at Evolve is amazing! They all go above & beyond. I am delighted with the final result, nobody would ever know I’m wearing a denture. I would recommend to anyone, you will not get better treatment anywhere. Thank you Evolve, you are awesome xxxx

Evolve came recommended and didn’t disappoint, Yasmin and Mike are both at the top end the of game and absolute perfectionists! not to forget there support team who where always friendly and helpful, the reception knew I wanted my treatment completed asap and always called when there was opportunity to move appointments forward. I arrived at evolve with missing teeth, a mouth full of black fillings and a nhs denture that I couldn’t get on with, so I just never wore. I just wanted my old smile back. from day one I’ve been given multiple options to suit my budget and never pushed any given way, I now have better teeth than before! Yasmin remodelled my front teeth and replaced my fillings while Mike made my denture which I hardly know is there and could eat and drink with straight away, the team really invested in helping me and I’m truly grateful, I would highly recommend

This dentist really cares about people who have a fear of them, they have always treated me with the empathy and the care I needed to put me at my ease and have given me the confidence that I can trust them 100% so I can fulfil my treatment without fear. I have tried other dentists before and never went back because I wasn't happy and more scared than ever. So i really am a nervous patient. Yet ive had dentures from them and teeth extracted with sedation and felt safe and not terrified as i trust them with everything that they told me. Every member of staff is caring and aware of your needs and do their best to make you feel safe and confident. Carol is amazing and for the years I have been there it was a decision that really gave me my confidence back and a dentist that I turn to when I need work done. I would never go anywhere else as I feel grateful I'm one of their patients.

Just completed cosmetic treatment for a chipped front tooth and irregular gapping.Carol has fitted 4 porcelain veneers to my top front teeth which now look just fabulous.Smiling confidently again!Surprisingly pain free and a great big thank you to Carol, her able assistant, and all her team, including the hygienists who ensured my teeth were in great condition before the treatment.The whole team made me feel relaxed through the treatment and the weeks before in preparation for the veneers.5 stars and would definitely recommend.

I travel Two hours to attend my appointment here to have all of the amalgams taken out. 12 teeth in all. Two for each appointment. Its worth it. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have had a fear of dentists all my life but had to take a chance with this particular treatment because of my condition. It's specialized as safety measures have to be in place.There was no need to worry at all. I was made to feel so relaxed and the treatment never hurt one tiny bit. I work at Evolve so I know it’s an amazing place. However, I had toothache and I have had to have a tooth out today. Not something I have any experience of and I was so nervous. Carol is an expert at pain free treatment and looked after me so well. Teeth can be tricky and she removed it effortlessly. Everyone was so kind and supportive. Can’t thank them enough.

After a lifetime of wonky teeth I decided to get them straightened and went to Evolve for a consultation. From the moment I walked in the door I felt I was in safe hands. Julie firstly discussed with me the 2 options for teeth straightening - Invisalign or ceramic fixed brace. I then had a consultation with Carol who discussed the options with me further. I never felt rushed or under any pressure to chose a specific one, if in fact any. I have chosen to go with Ceramic Fixed braces and it will take roughly 9 - 12 months. I am currently 3 months in and already friends and family are amazed at the difference. Most people cannot actually see the braces when I am smiling or speaking, but my teeth are already so much straighter. Evolve continue to support my journey and I am so happy I researched reputable Dentists and found the Team at Evolve. Everyone there is so happy and professional, you can tell it is a good place to work. I feel safe, heard, and my hopes for a beautiful smile are understood by the whole team. I don't believe anyone would regret going to Evolve, but you very well might regret NOT going :o)

I came to visit Carol for amalgam extractions and I was pleased with the safety protocols used to remove the mercury. The filings were replaced without issue and pain free. I then had Invisalign to straighten my teeth and I am delighted with the results. The whole team are wonderful and customer centric. I highly recommend.

Always a great experience at Evolve. Have been a patient for a number of years and took the plunge on some aligners. Experience start to ‘so far’ has been faultless. Looking forward to the results in 6 months (or so) time.

Such friendly staff! I used to feel apprehensive visiting the dentist, but both the dentist and hygienist make me feel at ease, and since going here I’ve felt absolutely fine every time. The place is kept spotless, and the chairs are very comfortable!

Evolve has been my Dentist since 2012, the team has remained the friendly practice with continual commitment to my needs since the beginning.The little things matter and make for the experience each and every time a pleasure instead of a chore.By the way the dental chair is so comfortable I have on occasion drifted off! I should also mention that’s due to gentle methods when performing treatment.

I heard great things about Evolve from many of my clients so decided to sign up after being with the NHS dentist since being a youngen.Evolve exceeded my expectations and more!!The team on the desk are lovely and very helpful. Had an amazing experience with evolve. Everyone was lovely and always talkative. The Dentist that I had was very thorough and wanted to make sure I was happy with my teeth. Overall super happy with my teeth I now feel so much more confident.

I was absolutely petrified to go to the dentist due to childhood experiences/trauma many years ago. It took some courage walking through the doors of Evolve Dentistry, however I needn’t had worried as the staff from the Reception Ladies, Julie in the office, the hygienists and a special mention for my dentist Yasmin were all super friendly, put me at ease with their patience and understanding, talked through all my worries and didn’t push for me to have anything done until I was feeling ready. I’ve now had a few procedures the most recent being composite bonding which I am absolutely thrilled with, along with healthy oral hygiene I can finally smile again without feeling embarrassed about my teeth. Have a review booked and am at the stage now I trust them so much I can actually look forward to my on going appointments. Thank you all Evolve team

Always a great experience at Evolve, polite, professional and friendly staff who go that extra mile. Very thoughtful touches such as a jigsaw in reception to help anxious patients and sending me flowers to celebrate a special occasion. Amazing customer service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So so happy with the treatment we received from Dr Mike Gregory. He was so gentle and calm with my 80 year old mother. He made the perfect set of dentures for her which fit like a glove! She was over the moon! And all receptionists and nurses were so welcoming too!Well worth the 200 mile drive from London!Thank you 😊

Visited Evolve after a recommendation. Had an initial consultation chat and then a full check up and xrays with Yasmin. We discussed the results of my check up and also what I wanted from my smile. That's something that was never discussed with my previous dentist.I took the monthly plan offered and came away with costings for other work I wanted done.I'm just gutted I left it so late to find such a wonderful and welcoming practice. All the staff are so friendly and take the time to explain everything from treatment to payment and plans.Thoroughly recommend

This was a big decision and investment for me but I could not be happier with the results! Carol and the Evolve team have been extremely helpful, professional and caring during my treatment and after.I could not recommend Evolve and fixed braces enough for amazing results and a smile I am now definitely proud of. Always extremely professional and thorough. Booking is very efficient and never an issue if you need to change an appointment. All procedures are explained thoroughly and there is never any pressure to have unnecessary procedures. My dental crown and mouth guard have been completed perfectly and the modern technology is amazing. I had zero pain during the dental crown procedure. All round an excellent practice. 👍

I had a really nice experience with evolve on Wednesday afternoon. The staff were lovely and reassuring .made me feel relaxed and comfortable , as I had never had any facial treatments before. Big thanks to Carol and her team at evolve dentistry I was made to feel very welcome, professional from start to finish, I had 8 of my old amalgam fillings removed under a safe protocol and I'm very happy with the results. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend.
