Smile Imaging Now Available At Evolve

Whether you’re popping into Evolve to talk about having some cosmetic dentistry, or you’re thinking about taking advantage of our teeth whitening treatment, you’ll now be able to see the effects of your treatment before you even have it. We are proud to offer a brand-new service called Smile Imaging, which allows us to show you the effect your treatment will have on your smile.

The free service is available with our treatment coordinator Julie who will take a photograph of your smile during your consultation and, using some of the latest software, will simulate the image to show you what your smile will look like after you’ve undergone the proposed treatment. So if you’re not sure what your smile will look like after treatment, then Smile Imaging takes away any doubts you may have simply by clearly showing you the difference between your smile pre and post treatment.

How does it work?

The Smile Imaging software allows us to demonstrate to you how your smile will look once the treatment has been completed. All you have to do is book your appointment and we’ll take care of the rest. Once your appointment has begun, we’ll take a picture of your smile and import it into the Smile Imaging software. Once your image has been imported, the Smile Imaging software gives us a range of tools to adjust your smile in accordance with the treatment you want.

For instance, if you’re wondering how your smile would be transformed if you were to have some crowns and veneers, the Smile Imaging software has a specific tool to allow us to take your smile and simulate crowns and veneers onto it. Once it’s done, we simply print off the before and after images and hand them to you, that way you can get a true idea of how the treatment will impact your smile. Of course, the software can not be 100% accurate, but we use it to give a realistic interpretation of what we believe will be achievable with your smile if you choose to undergo the treatment.

Will it work for my treatment?

The Smile Imaging technology is available for a wide range of treatments, so chances are that you will be able to preview your treatment with Smile Imaging. Whether you’re coming in for a simple procedure or complete cosmetic dentistry, the software will give you a clear indication of what you can expect. If you have a space you want closing, then the Smile Imaging software allows us to use a ‘mirror image’ feature. The feature allows us to take a mirror image of your opposing tooth and place it on the gap you want closing. The software allows us to use your own teeth to clearly demonstrate to you how the treatment will work on your smile, so you can be sure that your results from the Smile Imaging will be accurate.

Other treatments that work with Smile Imaging include cases that require full mouth orthodontic work, lip augmentation for those who are worried that their smile is too ‘gummy’, lateral diastema for small gaps where we can bond the teeth together, teeth whitening, bridge implants and more.

Stop wondering

Ultimately, the Smile Imaging technology takes away any lingering questions about how your smile will look after your treatment. If your smile has been affecting your confidence, or you’d just like it to be a little bit whiter, our new Smile Imaging software can show you the transformation effect that our treatments can have on your smile. So if you’ve been thinking about asking your dentist about a specific treatment, speak to us at Evolve and we can show you what that treatment can do for you.

🦷 Did you know your oral health affects your whole body?

Your mouth doesn’t exist in isolation. Gum health, inflammation and oral hygiene can all play a role in your wider wellbeing – from heart health to confidence and mental wellness.

We’ve just published a new blog exploring the link between oral health and overall wellness, and why looking after your teeth and gums is about much more than your smile.

If you’re interested in oral health and general health Portishead, this is a great read and a helpful reminder of how small daily habits can support long-term health.

When is root canal treatment needed?

It’s a question many patients ask — and in this video, Richard explains it clearly and simply.

Root canal treatment is usually needed when the nerve inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This can happen because of deep decay, a crack in the tooth, repeated dental work, or sometimes after an injury.

You might experience symptoms like persistent toothache, sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers, pain when biting, or swelling around the gum. However, sometimes there are very few symptoms at all — which is why regular check-ups at the practice are so important.

The good news is that root canal treatment is designed to relieve pain, not cause it. It removes the infection, saves the natural tooth, and helps you avoid extraction.

Watch Richard’s video to understand the signs to look out for — and if you’re worried about a tooth, get in touch with our reception team for advice.

Love a sweet treat? Jane shares a simple swap that your teeth will thank you for.

Sticky sweets cling to your teeth and sit in the tiny grooves for longer, feeding the bacteria that cause decay. The longer they stick around, the more damage they can do.

Instead, try swapping them for crunchy veg or a handful of nuts. Foods like carrots, cucumber and peppers have a natural crunch that helps stimulate saliva, which protects your teeth. Nuts are also a lower-sugar option and far less likely to cling to enamel.

Small changes really do make a big difference over time.
Are electric toothbrushes better than manual?

It’s a question we’re asked a lot at the practice – and in this video, Carol gives a clear, honest answer.

Electric toothbrushes can make it easier to clean effectively, especially if you struggle with technique, brushing for long enough, or reaching certain areas. Many people find they remove plaque more consistently, simply because they do most of the work for you.

That said, a manual toothbrush can still do a great job when used properly. It’s less about the brush itself and more about how you use it.

Watch Carol’s quick explanation to find out what we usually recommend – and how to make sure you’re getting the most from your brushing routine.

If you’re unsure whether your brushing technique is working for you, mention it at your next appointment and we’ll be happy to guide you. 🪥
