We have a new front of house team member here at Evolve Dentistry in Portishead! Teresa has worked with us in the past, left to develop her career and is now back with a raft of experience under her belt. We’re really happy to have her smiling face and caring manner back in our practice and we thought we’d introduce you to her in her own words…
“I’m really pleased to be back working at Evolve Dentistry because it is friendly and welcoming with plenty of state-of-the art equipment. I’ve spent some time working in high-end dental practices and clinics who carry out smile makeovers and work to very high standards, many of these were award winners so I’ve brought that experience back to Evolve with me.
I find Evolve an exciting place to work because the team like to use the latest techniques, developments and equipment. I love working at here because I am representing dentists and clinicians who provide a really high level of dentistry, which makes me feel very proud within my role.
I also love meeting patients and getting to understand their individual concerns and needs. My priority is making the patient journey in our practice a pleasant one at every stage and I do that by providing the level of support that is required. I really enjoy the patient-facing aspect of my role and I’m very experienced in dealing with patients who suffer from dental fear. My advice to anyone who is nervous about visiting the dentist is to take the plunge and call us. The whole team here at Evolve are really friendly and we’ll go out of our way to make you feel safe and comfortable in our practice. I advise coming in to have a look around and meeting the team in your own time too, this can help to ease nerves by finding familiarity with the dental practice, which makes it a much less scary place to visit. We’re more than happy to accommodate this if you feel it would help, so pick up the phone and have a chat with us!
In my spare time I’m a member of walking groups and we like to take in the fresh air over the Brecon Beacons at the weekends. I have to admit that I also enjoy good wine and food; with my daughter currently living and working as a teacher in Vietnam that has provided me with lots of cooking (and eating!) inspiration. She’s been out there with her husband for four years and I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few times and travel around parts of Asia, benefiting from her knowledge and experience as my personal tour guide!
I also love to read; my Kindle is my best friend. I’ve just enjoyed The Girl On The Train because it had a great twist at the end. I’m a big fan of arts and culture and really enjoy seeing plays and attending the theatre. I’ve recently been to see Motown: The Musical in London, and of course I couldn’t resist seeing a pantomine over the Christmas period!”
If you find the thought of visiting the dentist a terrifying prospect, you’re not alone. This is a very common fear and, as Teresa says, it’s something we’re very experienced in helping patients with here at Evolve Dentistry. Take the first step and call our reception team on 01275 842 550 for a friendly chat about the ways in which we could make dentistry a pleasant experience for you.

😴 Can snoring affect your oral health?
In our latest Two Thirty video, Maggie answers a question many people don’t think to ask — can snoring impact your teeth and gums?
The short answer is yes, it can.
Snoring is often linked to breathing through your mouth at night, which can cause a dry mouth. Saliva plays an important role in protecting your teeth, so when your mouth is dry, you may be more prone to tooth decay and bad breath.
If you snore and have noticed dryness, increased decay or concerns about your breath, it’s worth mentioning at your next appointment.
Our reception team at Evolve Dentistry in Portishead will be happy to arrange a consultation if you’d like advice.

⏰ Smile hack: When you brush matters
Did you know it’s not just how long you brush — but when you brush — that makes a difference? Maggie shares an important smile hack about timing your toothbrushing properly.
Brushing straight after eating — especially after acidic foods or drinks like fruit, juice or coffee — can actually do more harm than good. Your enamel is slightly softened, and brushing immediately can cause wear.
Maggie explains the best time to brush and why waiting can help protect your teeth long term.
It’s a small change that can make a big difference to your oral health.

Whether you’re considering braces for yourself or your child, understanding the process can make the journey feel much more reassuring.
