Why Does Evolve Not Smell Like A Dental Practice?

Walk into almost any dental practice and you will notice one thing that makes you immediately realise that you are in a dental practice, even with your eyes closed, the smell. There is a universal smell that is immediately recognisable and as your sense of smell is the sense of greatest recall, this can also trigger immediate anxiety.

Why does a dental practice always have the same smell? It’s the pink mouthwash that is used after every treatment that creates this all pervading smell and lasts a long time.

When creating a perfect experience, Carol realised that this smell can be very off putting for patients, especially when it is the first thing that greets them walking through the door, so she specifically decided not use the pink mouthwash but instead a minty one which does not create an immediate smell and in fact is a far more pleasant flavour as well. Many patients comment on the nice mouthwash that we use at Evolve.

There is more to it than just not using the pink mouthwash, we also use Jo Malone room scent, Pomegranate Noir to be precise, in the reception area and also each treatment room, no need for air freshener at Evolve. Of course, our lovely fresh flowers also add to the pleasant smell and look beautiful each week. All of this combined creates a relaxing atmosphere that results in a much calmer environment and happier patients.
