A winning smile is infectious, it can boost your confidence, and improve the mood of yourself and everyone around you. But if you find yourself covering your mouth, hiding your laugh, or doing anything possible to avoid to avoid photos of your smile, then now is the time to do something about it.
There are so many solutions available to achieve the smile you’ve always wished for, and here is a quick guide to some of these treatments.
Braces
Braces or orthodontics are the preferred option to achieve a beautifully straight smile as this means it’s your own teeth looking naturally beautiful. After an initial in-depth consultation with your dentist or the specialist orthodontist, a treatment plan is created for you so that know the cost and estimated time of treatment. You are then fitted with your chosen braces, which will remain in place for a specified period of time depending on the recommendation of your dentist or orthodontist. If you are looking to have braces fitted, there are a number of options available that are guaranteed to suit any budget, lifestyle, and time frame requirement.
Veneers and White Fillings.
Veneers are applied to the front teeth, and are a great solution to improve the colour, shape, and in some cases the alignment of the teeth. White fillings are applied to the back teeth, and offer a more natural looking alternative to silver fillings, made of composite material, or porcelain, to blend seamlessly with your tooth.
If you are experiencing alignment issues with your teeth, braces would be the first recommendation to re-position teeth.
Whitening
If you find that the shape and positioning of your teeth are good, but the colour could do with some improvement, teeth whitening may be your preferred solution. Home whitening allows you to carry out the procedure at home, saving a lot of time, however you must ensure that you receive a prescription from a dentist in order to begin treatment. Only dentists can prescribe tooth whitening, so don’t be tempted to have your teeth whitened by a beautician or at the hairdressers. Whitening is achieved by using a gel that is applied to your teeth within trays tailored to your teeth. To maintain the colour improvement that you achieve, it is advised that a top up of 1-2 days is carried out every 3-4 months, but your dentist will go through all the details before you begin.
Crowns
In comparison to a veneer, crowns cover the entire tooth to approve appearance, alignment and overall function. Your teeth are either scanned, or an impression is made, and your crown covering is then sculpted from a strong ceramic material. There are different crown types available depending on your individual needs, so be sure to ask your dentist about the best option to suit you.
Re-shaping
Should your smile be hindered by a chip or irregularity in the shape of the tooth, then this can be rectified through re-shaping. To achieve the desired result, the tooth is carefully contoured or bonded to a regular shape. This is a particularly useful treatment if your teeth are accidentally chipped and you can make minor adjustments to the shape of your teeth without needing to be made numb.
Smile-imaging
If you want to undergo treatment to help you achieve your perfect smile, but you’re not sure what procedure to choose, Smile Imaging could be the ideal solution for you. Smile Imaging utilises specialist software to show you the potential results that can be achieved by undergoing particular treatments. Simply put, an image of your smile is taken and uploaded to the software. There are then multiple tools available to show you how your smile could look, whether you’re considering having crowns, veneers, whitening, or any other treatment.
Evolve Dentistry, Portishead, offers a range of solutions to help you achieve that winning smile, and with our Smile Imaging software you’re guaranteed to find the perfect course of treatment for you. For more information about what we can do for you and your smile, contact the team today.

What exactly is a dental crown?
In this video, Carol explains how crowns help restore and protect teeth that have been weakened by cracks, root canal treatment or large fillings.
A crown acts like a protective cap, binding the tooth together and giving it the strength it needs for everyday biting and chewing.
Watch the video to learn when a crown may be recommended and how it helps protect your smile.

Did you know that chewing sugar free gum after eating can actually help protect your teeth? 🍬➡️🦷
In this video, Carol explains why dentists often recommend sugar free gum after meals. Chewing gum stimulates saliva, which helps wash away food particles and neutralise acids that can lead to tooth decay.
It’s not a replacement for brushing, but it can be a helpful extra habit when you’re out and about and can’t brush your teeth straight away.
