Once the teeth are clean, they are usually polished to remove surface stains and leave the teeth feeling smooth.

Why do gums bleed when you brush?
If you’ve noticed your gums bleeding when brushing your teeth, you’re not alone - and it’s usually a sign your gums are inflamed.
In many cases this happens when plaque builds up along the gum line. The gums become irritated and more fragile, which means they can bleed more easily when brushing.
The good news is that with consistent oral hygiene - brushing thoroughly twice a day and cleaning between your teeth - many people notice improvement within a couple of weeks.
However, if the bleeding continues, it’s worth having it checked. Regular bleeding can sometimes indicate gum disease, and an examination at the practice allows us to assess your gum health and give the right advice.
